Welcome

At last, a new look to my website.  I wonder what excuse I’ll use now if I don’t keep it updated. As you look around, you will see some differences.  The look is obviously new, I’ve added a forum for discussions on certain topics, I’ve got a new logo, and I’ve included some areas that really don’t have anything to do with fish, but at least are nature based.  You are free to browse around the site, but to participate[…] Read the full article&#8594

Fish Tuberculosis In Hobbyists

More than six months ago I was doing some cleaning of my sponge filters when I felt a sharp pain in my middle finger. This process of starting the aquarium is often referred to as “cycling”, which[…] Read the full article&#8594

Vinegar Eels

Vinegar eels are extremely easy to culture. I use a quart to half gallon container with no aeration and a 50/50 mix of water and apple vinegar. The apples are cut up and put into the liquid, and then the starter culture of vinegar eels is added. The apples float for several days, and unless you look really close you won’t see much indication of a viable culture for 2-4 weeks. A word of warning – the cultures really look[…] Read the full article&#8594
